Special Olympics Florida State Surfing Championships 2024 Recap
On August 23-24, athletes from around the state converged in Cocoa Beach for the 2024 Special Olympics Florida State Surfing Championship. The surfing program started in 2010 with an initial group of eight athletes from Brevard County. It was the first program in the country to offer surfing as a competitive sport for Special Olympics athletes. The program has continued to grow, and this year, more than 110 athletes from 15 counties competed across four skill levels at Alan Shepard Park.
Ron Jon Surf Shop is proud to partner each year with Special Olympics Florida and Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation to present the SOFL State Surfing Championships.
